Perhaps science fictionΓÇÖs leading scholar and critic, James Gunn (b. 1922) was educated at the University of Kansas, where he is currently an English and journalism professor and Director of the Center for the Study of Science Fiction. His Alternate Worlds: The Illustrated History of Science Fiction won the 1976 Pilgrim Award.
